How a supplier is chosen

Structure type: rigid box, folding carton, corrugated or moulded pulp.
Volume and required lead time.
Finish: foil, emboss, spot UV or speciality materials.
Delivery location and freight setup.

Europe or Asia

European production means shorter transport and faster turnaround, which suits smaller volumes and time-critical projects. Asian production is often more competitive at larger volumes and advanced finishing, but involves longer transport. We weigh this against your volume, budget and timeline.

Quality control

Inspection is made against the approved specification: dimensions, colour against the proof, finish, glue joints, fit to product and packing. Deviations are documented and handled with the supplier before delivery. Certain tolerances are normal in print and board production and are stated in the specification in advance.

Division of responsibility

VyPack is responsible for specification, sourcing, project management and inspection. The supplier is responsible for manufacturing and the certifications it holds. The forwarder is responsible for transport. We pass on supplier documentation but issue no certifications of our own.

We review board quality, thickness, fit, print technique and finishing with you and turn it into a specification a supplier can produce against.

Frequently asked questions

Can we know where the packaging is made?: We state the region and can share relevant supplier information within the terms of the project agreement.
What happens if a delivery deviates?: The deviation is documented and handled against the specification. Complaints follow the terms in the general sales conditions.
Can production move between runs?: Yes, but it requires a new sample round since materials and machines differ between suppliers.
How long is the lead time?: Normally 6-8 weeks after confirmed design, depending on scope, finish and transport mode.
